Amid concerns about global warming and an uncertain future, The Assembly unleashes its failed weatherman on the people of New York with a simple message: The weather is going to kill us. All of us. The Dark Heart of Meteorology is a series of barely-multimedia presentations--part lecture/slideshow, part happening--by lonely traveling weatherman Franklin Elijah White.
NYTHEATRE.COM CRITIC'S PICK:
"The Dark Heart of Meteorology, the debut show for the young company The Assembly at Horse Trade Theater Group, is a delight, featuring a tour de force performance by the fine indie theater actor Richard Lovejoy and an exciting introduction to the work of talented playwright Stephen Aubrey...Lovejoy is magnificent in the role, which requires him to be alternately addled, endearing, wise, and foolish." -- Martin Denton
"From the moment [Lovejoy] bursts onstage he is captivating... the show manages to keep the laughter rolling at an almost feverish pace." -- Theater Knights
"The unpredictability of the weather is a metaphor for the senselessness of human tragedy in the monologue, and Rich’s chops, I learned, run the gamut from slapstick to pathos... He has a soulful quality, and we stay with him throughout his weird journey, and want more of it." -- Trav S.D.
